How Does an Online Consultation Work? Guide for International Patients
Digital consultation steps prior to traveling to Istanbul: standardized photo protocols, medical history disclosure, personalized treatment plans, and virtual simulations.
Key points
- Standardized, well-lit medical photographs (frontal, 45-degree oblique, and profile) are vital for precise anatomical assessment.
- Complete transparency regarding chronic conditions, allergies, and anticoagulants is essential for patient safety.
- The online consult establishes a provisional operative strategy; definitive surgical execution is confirmed during the in-person clinical exam.
Digital Telemedicine Protocol and Photographic Guidelines for Overseas Patients
For prospective international patients planning travel to Istanbul, the journey commences via our secure digital telemedicine portal. The initial, foundational requirement is adherence to the "Standardized Medical Photography Protocol." For rhinoplasty evaluations, the surgeon requires eye-level frontal views, bilateral 45-degree oblique perspectives, absolute lateral profiles, and a basal submental (worm’s eye) view to assess tip asymmetry. For hair transplantation, sharp, close-up images of the anterior hairline, crown/vertex, and occipital donor density are collected. Photographs must be devoid of digital filters, shot against a neutral matte backdrop (such as an unadorned white wall), and illuminated by balanced natural light to permit faithful structural inspection.
Medical History Screening, Live Video Consultation, and In-Person Evaluation
Following photo triage, patients complete an exhaustive systemic medical history questionnaire. Prior surgical encounters, chronic disorders, tobacco habits, and anticoagulant medications are cross-referenced against surgical safety criteria. A direct, scheduled video consultation with Op. Dr. İsmail Büyükçayır follows, during which the patient’s goals are analyzed, realistic operative limits are defined, and virtual 3D simulations are reviewed. Crucially, from both an ethical and legal standpoint, remote consultations serve strictly as provisional planning instruments. The immutable surgical blueprint is formalized solely during the in-person physical consultation at our Istanbul clinic, following skin palpation, structural inspection, and pre-op laboratory testing.
